Ayelet Akselrod-Ballin
Ayelet is a post-doctoral research fellow in the Computational Radiology Laboratory at Childrens Hospital Boston. She received her PhD in applied mathematics and computer science from Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, in May 2007 and holds a BSc in physics and computer science and an MSc in computer science from Tel-Aviv University, Israel. During her PhD she developed a multiscale segmentation and classification methodology with focus on MRI of the brain. The algorithms developed were applied to segmentation of Multiple Sclerosis lesions and identification of anatomical structures.

Before joining the CRL she worked as a medical imaging expert at Aposense. Collaborating with Uppsala Imanet, GE-healthcare she developed computational algorithms aimed at optimizing the utility of a novel radiotracer for PET imaging of apoptosis in various clinical applications.

Ayelet currently works on development of registration and segmentation algorithms for petascale analysis of neural circuits with application to electron microscopy data.
